Welcome to Wanko-chan Island, a proposal for a promotion and sales stand for a supposed trade fair, attempts to propose this imaginary island as a possible tourist destination. Borrowing from the optimistic aesthetic that characterises these types of fairs, Kaoru Katayama presents in two connected spaces, a joint scene consisting of enlarged images of Wanko-chan Island and a promotional video – in which real images of pseudo-documental landscapes are alternated with digital illustrations.
